Over the last couple of days, I've really been missing everything and everyone in Illinois. I've only been gone less than 2 months, but it feels like forever. It is hard not to get nostalgic when you lived somewhere for 5.5 years.
Here is a random list of things I'm missing:
- $2 giant margaritas
- Spinach bisque
- Walking the kids home from school and listening to them chat about their day
- Breakfast bagels being a staple to survival (especially during finals)
- C trying to tell a story, interrupting her, causing her to have a giggle fit
- D begging to go to the local video store every day- "Come on, Amanda! I just want to get game!"
- H sleep talking + sleep walking
- Adventures to Dollar General and the used bookstore
- Spending hours in founders (the computer lab) working on/ writing stories
- Bonding with my APO brothers
- Sundee and I's bedtime chats
- Having everything within a 5 minute drive or walking distance
- Pizza dates with Elyse
- Game/ movie/ dinner nights with Katy and Sundee
Just for fun, here is a few things I do not miss:
- Finals
- The harsh winds
- Trying to have a phone conversation over the train whistles and wind
- Twin size dorm bed- complete with the terrible plastic mattress
-Amanda
I get homesick often. One thing I found is to
ReplyDeletevisit often, and two, if you can't do option one, order food from www.tastesofchicago.com.
I sent my brother some Lou Malnatis pizza for his birthday, and he went nuts. What isn't to love, I mean you can get Garretts popcorn! It is only a few dollars more than the store..and sooo good!
